Dollhouse Nightstand

oil on gessobord, 5 x 5 inches, Sold.

Along with the painting, you will receive an original Haiku (by me) on the theme of dolls, childhood, and imagination.

I painted this Sunday, after sneaking this little piece of wooden furniture out of my daughters' dollhouse. My wife had restored the dollhouse her grandfather built for her when she was a child. She let the girls paint wooden furniture and flowers to fill it up. It's so lovely to see them play with the handmade house . . . I know my wife's granddad probably never thought he was building an heirloom when he put it together. I'm sure he's smiling down on them every time they sit down with it.

(This painting was up for Sunday trade, but the painting I was after has already been traded for! Doh! Next month . . . next month . . . )

SIL, much success on your latest artistic endeavor - sounds as if you've met a group of like-minded artists. That's great.

I like this treatment very much ... especially the way you handled the background by "roughing it up". The texture is neat.
