quick sunsets

Here's a couple of quick sketches from the evening of Dec. 30. I brought some pastels to play with up the hill behind the Clark Art Institute and managed to make some impressions just as the sun was setting behind the nearby hills. Both these are 12 or so inches wide on grey toned paper. Shown here in chronological order.

Wow, David,
I love the way these turned out! I particularly like seeing the two in order, like I am actually standing with you on the hill and watching the sunset.

these, i love -- i actually love too how it's not finished to the border. it like adds a lot of depth -- to compare the flatness of the paper with the depth you got out of the landscape. not to be cheesy, but it's very ma-giiii-call
